William Forrest & Mary Jane Dial

William Forrest was born December 8, 1839 in Ozark Co., MO. He married Mary Jane Dial November 05, 1859 in Isabella, Ozark Co., a daughter of Anthony and Leah Dial. The family lived in Vienna, Maries Co,. MO in 1874-77; in Big Creek, Ozark Co. in 1880; and relocated to Marlow, OK in 1900. In 1910 William is living in Hulbert, Cherokee Co., OK in the household of his son James; and in 1912 he is in Ray, OK.

In Muskogee and Northeastern Oklahoma (Chicago, The S.J. Clarke Publishing Co., 1922, p. 11) it states that "[William} followed farming in Maries county but he removed to Ozark County in 1877, where he followed agricultrual pursuits, achieving more than substantial success."

William, along with his older brothers, served with the Union Army during the Civil War, enrolling first on November 22, 1861, with Company F, Phelps Regiment, Missouri Volunteers, commanded by Captain George W. Evans. He also served as a private in Co G 46th Rgt Mo Infantry (enrolled 23 August 1864, discharged 31 March 1865). His personal description in his pension file is 5'-71/2", fair complexion, blue/grey eyes, with light hair. Based on this military service, in 1894 William filed an application for an invalid pension based on rheumatism, heart disease, and disease of the eyes.

William died at the age of seventy-five on June 2, 1914 in Hulbert, Tahlequah OK. His obituary in the Cherokee Democrat - 4 June 1914 - "A Mr. Forrest of Hulbert, father of Sim Forrest of this city, died at the home of his son last night at the ripe old age of 80 years." Mary Jane died at the home of her daughter Alice and son-in-law Thomas G. Gilliam on March 11, 1916, Custer Co., OK and is buried in Clinton Cemetery, Custer Co.

Alice Malinda Forrest

Alice Malinda Forrest was born March 15, 1865 in Ozark Co. MO and died April 22, 1951 in Ada, OK. Alice married Thomas Gay Gilliam and in 1916 is living in Clinton Custer Co., OK. Alice is buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Ada, OK.

James David Forrest

James David Forrest, nicknamed "Rabbit Jim", was born October 12, 1867 in Ozark Co. and died December 20, 1952 in Duncan, Stephens Co., OK. He married (1) Luctecia A. Osborne and (2) Rose Bell Myers May 30, 1892. In 1900, he's living in Big Creek Ozark Co. Mo; in 1910 in Hulbert Cherokee Co., OK. The children of James Forrest and Rose Myers were:

Elizabeth "Elsie" Forrest was born January 10, 1872 in Ozark Co. She married Richard Campbell.

Simeon "Sim" Sebastian Forrest

Sim Forrest was born November 21, 1874 in Vienna, Maries Co. MO and died September 10, 1966 in Pryor, Cherokee Co., OK. He's buried in the Shirley Cemetery, Eldon , OK. His wife was Annie B. Easter, a daughter of J.B. and Mary E. Easter. An article in Muskogee and Northeastern Oklahoma (Chicago: S.J. Clarke Publishing Company, 1922, pp. 11-12) states: "Simeon S. Forrest, one of the reliable citizens of Tahelquah, is the incumbent of the office of county assessor of Cherokee County...In the acquirement of an education Simeon S. Forrest attended the public schools of Ozark County and various private academies. Upon putting his textbooks aside he engaged in teaching and for two years taught in the schools of Ozark county. In 1906 he removed to Wagoner, Indian Territory, and until 1910 was engaged as teacher in the government schools...The family is affiliated with the Methodist church and they are generous contributors ot its support. Since ttaining his majority Mr. Forrest has given his allegieance to the republican party...fraternally is identified with the Masons and the Knights of Pythias."

Amanda Forrest

Amanda Forrest was born November 1, 1879, and died October 4, 1947 in Arcola, LA. She's buried in Arcola Union Church. She Married (1) Frank Moore(divorced) and (2) Charles S Anderson January 20, 1908 in Beaumont Jefferson Co. TX. When Frank Moore and Amanda Leave Ozark Co., they settle in OK.
